Radio Atlantis is a community radio station situated in Atlantis, on the West Coast, about 50 km outside Cape Town, in the Western Cape Province. Established on 1 September 1995, Radio Atlantis gives a voice to our community and seeks to empower through education and information.
Radio Atlantis is also a provider of training for media practitioners and community historians. We aim to promote an awareness and culture of human rights by enabling organisations and individuals to tell their stories through our broadcasts and projects.
Our broadcasting area is Atlantis, Mamre, Witsand, Pella, Duinefontein, Melkbosstrand, Tableview, Nuwedorp, Milnerton, Klipheuwel and all the other surrounding farming areas on the Cape West Coast. We broadcast 24 hours per day in a mix of Afrikaans, English and isi-Xhosa. Our studios and transmitter are located in the central of Atlantis.
Our community is predominantly black and female. Our programming schedule covers all age groups and all social sectors. We have a listenership of between 5 0 000 and 90 000.
