Teachers and Learners were locked out of school this morning after parents and board members took a stand about unanswered questions.  The Radio Atlantis news team spoke to concerned parents and board members who stated that the Education Department appointed an interim School Principal on a six month contract.

But the Education Department appointed a new Principal that was due to start work this morning on 29 August 2016 and yet the interim Principal has only been in office for two months.

The gates were locked and no one had access to the school premises, a decision was then taken by the South African Democratic Teacher’s Union and the Representatives from the Western Cape Education Department at 11am this morning to send all learners home.

This comes after parents refused to open the gates of the school.  As a way forward the Teachers, Parents, SADTU and WCED have agreed to have a meeting this evening at 19H00 at the school to find a resolution regarding the appointment of the new School Principal.  The parents and board members question the process that was followed to the appointment of the new principal, and what are the rights of the interim Principal.
